Acupuncture & Dry Needling

Acupuncture and dry needling at Meridian Osteopathy in Christchurch bring two complementary traditions together under one roof: Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medical acupuncture. We treat chronic and acute pain, headaches and migraines, women's health concerns including fertility and menopause, sleep, stress, digestion, and sports-injury recovery. ACC-registered for injury-related care; no referral needed — you can book directly. Min Jin leads our Traditional Chinese Medicine practice — she is registered with the Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand and works across women's health, fertility, sleep, stress, digestion, and chronic pain through a TCM constitutional lens. Nina Hu leads our Western medical acupuncture and dry needling — she holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science (Acupuncture) and integrates fine-needle technique with osteopathic treatment for trigger-point release, musculoskeletal pain, headaches, and sports-injury recovery. Based in Hillmorton, our clinic welcomes patients from Wigram, Addington, Halswell, Cashmere and across greater Christchurch.

Pain Relief, Dry Needling & Recovery

Acupuncture is highly effective for both acute and chronic pain — through Traditional Chinese Medicine point selection, Western dry needling of muscular trigger points, or a blend of both. By stimulating specific points on the body, it triggers the release of natural pain-relieving chemicals, reduces inflammation, and improves circulation. Nina integrates dry needling with osteopathic treatment in the same session for back pain, neck pain, headaches, stubborn muscle spasm, and sports-injury recovery — particularly useful for the upper traps, suboccipitals, glutes, calves, and forearms. Min uses TCM-based acupuncture for chronic pain patterns that benefit from a constitutional approach. Whichever path you take, acupuncture offers a drug-free route to lasting relief.

Stress, Anxiety & Sleep

In today's fast-paced world, stress and poor sleep take a significant toll on health. Acupuncture helps regulate the nervous system, lower cortisol levels, and promote a deep sense of calm. Regular treatment can improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety, and restore emotional balance — helping you feel grounded and resilient.

Women's Health

Acupuncture has been used for centuries to support women's health across all life stages. From regulating menstrual cycles and easing period pain to managing pregnancy discomforts and navigating perimenopause and menopause, our practitioners provide gentle, holistic care tailored to your unique needs. Infertility acupuncture is one of our most sought-after specialties — research supports its role in improving ovarian function, regulating hormonal cycles, reducing stress, and enhancing uterine lining receptivity. Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or are undergoing IVF or other assisted reproductive treatments, acupuncture can be a powerful complement to your fertility journey, supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing throughout the process.

Digestive & Immune Health

A healthy gut is the foundation of overall wellbeing. Acupuncture can help regulate digestive function, reduce bloating and discomfort, and support conditions such as IBS, reflux, and nausea. It also plays a role in strengthening immune resilience and managing fatigue, helping your body maintain its natural balance.
